Terms of Service

The terms and conditions governing our skip hire services. Last updated: June 2025.

1. Service Description

Skip Hire Milton Keynes provides skip hire, delivery, collection, and waste disposal services across Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. We are a licensed waste carrier registered with the Environment Agency.

By booking a skip with us, you agree to these terms of service. Please read them carefully before placing your order.

2. Pricing and Payment

Quotes — All prices quoted include delivery, collection, and standard waste disposal. VAT is included where applicable.

Fixed pricing — The price quoted at the time of booking is the price you pay. There are no hidden fees or surcharges.

Payment — Payment is due on delivery unless otherwise agreed. We accept cash, bank transfer, and card payments.

Overloading — Skips must not be loaded above the fill line. If a skip is overloaded on collection, we may need to remove excess waste before transport. An additional charge may apply for overloaded skips.

Excess weight — Heavy materials (soil, rubble, concrete, bricks) should not fill more than half the skip. If the skip exceeds safe weight limits, an additional charge may apply.

3. Hire Period

The standard hire period is 7 to 14 days from the date of delivery. Extensions can be arranged by contacting us before the collection date. A daily extension fee may apply.

If you need the skip collected earlier than the agreed date, please give us at least 24 hours notice and we will arrange collection at no extra charge.

4. Permitted and Prohibited Waste

Permitted waste includes: General household waste, garden waste, wood, metal, rubble, bricks, soil, plasterboard, furniture, and non-hazardous construction waste.

Prohibited waste — the following must NOT be placed in any skip:

Asbestos or asbestos-containing materials, gas bottles and cylinders, tyres, electrical equipment (fridges, freezers, TVs, monitors), paint and solvents, batteries, medical or clinical waste, fluorescent tubes, liquid waste, fire extinguishers, and any material classified as hazardous under UK environmental regulations.

If prohibited waste is found in a skip, the customer is responsible for the additional cost of safe removal and disposal. We reserve the right to refuse collection of skips containing prohibited materials until they are removed.

5. Permits

If a skip is placed on a public highway, pavement, or any land owned by the local authority, a skip permit is required from Milton Keynes Council. We will apply for the permit on your behalf and include the cost in your quote.

Permit applications typically take 1 to 3 working days. We cannot guarantee permit approval by the council.

Skips placed on private land (driveways, gardens, private car parks) do not require a permit. It is the customer's responsibility to confirm land ownership and ensure they have permission to place a skip on the land.

6. Delivery and Access

You must ensure there is adequate access for our delivery vehicle. Our lorries require a minimum width of 3 metres and a clear overhead height of 5 metres.

If access is not possible on arrival and the delivery cannot be completed, a wasted journey charge may apply.

You are responsible for ensuring the placement location is suitable and that the skip will not obstruct access, damage surfaces, or interfere with utilities. We are not liable for damage to driveways, grass, or other surfaces caused by the weight of the skip and its contents.

7. Property Damage

We take reasonable care during delivery and collection. However, we cannot accept liability for damage to driveways, kerbs, grass, or other surfaces caused by the normal placement and collection of skips.

If you have concerns about surface damage, we recommend placing boards or protective materials on the intended placement area before delivery.

8. Cancellation

Before delivery — You may cancel your booking free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled delivery time.

Same day cancellation — Cancellations made less than 24 hours before delivery, or after the skip has been dispatched, may incur a cancellation fee to cover transport costs.

After delivery — Once the skip has been delivered, the full hire charge applies. Early collection can be arranged at no extra cost with 24 hours notice.

9. Liability

We carry comprehensive public liability insurance for our operations. Our liability is limited to the value of the services provided.

Once the skip is on your property, you are responsible for its security and contents. We are not liable for unauthorised items placed in the skip by third parties.

We are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of our services, including but not limited to project delays, loss of income, or third-party claims.

10. Environmental Responsibility

All waste collected is transported to a licensed waste transfer station and recycling facility. We recycle over 90% of waste we handle.

We provide waste transfer notes for commercial customers as required by the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Domestic customers can request a waste transfer note on request.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
